Nothing new…..but we recently heard that 2017 may be the year they start.
The Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana is almost open.
Excellence Resorts are all full, All Inclusives are now the rage and the economy is improving. Air lift to Jamaica is also improving as more charter flights are on the horizon. It’s a safe bet the rumors are true.
But here is some info and history.
The Excellence Group Luxury Resorts (a Dutch company specializing in hotel management and international real estate) has been quiet about the opening of the proposed new Excellence Oyster Bay Resort in Falmouth, Trelawny Jamaica.
Its location, near the Falmouth Cruise Port which opened in March 2011, is on a large peninsula in an area locals call Bushy Bay.
The proposed development will be comprised of Excellence Oyster Bay and 3 other complexes. The development site will require a significant amount of work considering that Excellence wants to include ‘Over the Water Bungalows’ that will sit on stilts which must be driven about 50ft into the ground. Of course the building codes require hurricane proofing, and earthquake proofing, as Jamaica sits near a fault line.
The Oyster Bay beach is about 2500ft (Excellence owns a total of 10,000ft). It is a natural beach -so there is little work other than cleaning of some of the sea grass and relocating some rocks.
Excellence’s plans take great care to minimize the environmental impact and to revitalize the hurricane damaged mangrove swamps, bringing the area back to prime condition.
We expect that Excellence Oyster Bay will be stunning, with the proposed Excellence Club building also being built over the water.
With tourism rebounding and investment in new building growing (have you been to Cancun lately? Construction is everywhere) and the incredibly high occupancy of the existing Excellence Resorts, I can guarantee you that when it opens with Over the Water Bungalows, it will be the most popular resort in Jamaica.
